Stab my back and twist it twice
Like that first time, I’ll survive
Blood on your hands, it isn’t mine
If you think I’ll lay down and die
Mandy Lee, the woman that you are!
“Out of Your Mind” is for the girlies (and the theys and the gays) that still carry the anger of their past heartaches. The latest single from MisterWives is full of the liberation that comes after you allow yourself to feel every bit of your anger.
The thing about Mandy Lee and the magic of MisterWives is that they aren’t just selling you a song or an album; they’re selling you an experience. It’s so exciting to get new music from them because you know you’re about to go into a world that was methodically created for you. If you decide to take a journey through MisterWives’s older discography (and I really think you should), you’ll still find the life-changing lyrics and Mandy’s piercing vocals but more than that, you’ll find how much they’ve grown as a band. Every album has been wrapped in life lessons and interesting musical choices that they’re not afraid to make.
Their last album, Superbloom, was released in 2020 and I credit those nineteen songs for getting me through the pandemic. How lucky are we to be invited to go along for the ride with Mandy Lee and her music? If Superbloom was Mandy reconciling with her feelings about the end of a relationship, their new single “Out of Your Mind” is the anger she found along the way. It’s loud, it’s punk-rock and it’s full of all of the feelings that we’re meant to suppress. That’s the thing about Mandy Lee and her lyrics, she’s not afraid to give you a tour through her heart and you can hear that in every second of her songs. Maybe her best gift to us is that her music instantly makes us feel less alone.
“Out of Your Mind” is out now!
